HAVEN

The HAVEN program (Helping Advocates for Violence Ending Now) is acampus community-wide initiative between UNC-Chapel Hill and DukeUniversity to increase support for student survivors of sexualviolence and to further the universities' efforts to prevent sexualviolence. The idea is to create multiple "safe spaces" around thecampus for students to go for information, discussion, andreferral. Faculty and staff may attend a HAVEN training session andthen receive a sign for their door that indicates that they are asafe space to go to discuss issues around sexual violence.

HAVEN is sponsored by the Carolina Women's Center, the UNC Officeof the Dean of Students and the Duke Women's Center.  Theprogram is funded in part by the Robertson Grant program.

The HAVEN Program is currently under development and will previewFall 2005 at both the Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill campuses.  Moreinformation will be posted soon.
