Book Exchange
Open during regular business hours (8:30am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday), the Women's Center houses The Women's Book Exchange, a 3900+ volume feminist lending library that was founded in 1983 as a membership library in the Durham community in order to make books by, for, and about women more readily available. It was given to the Duke Women's Center in 1993 in the hope of making these books, and others yet to come, available to all who need them. The Women's Book Exchange includes a large selection of fiction by women authors and non-fiction volumes addressing such subjects as gender, sexuality, health, campus issues, and men's issues. Books are available to be checked out by Duke students and members of the community. In addition we have a small amount of videos, dvds, and cds.Ã Although the cds are not available for lending, they may be listened to on the Center's stereo.Ã If you are looking for a particular book or author, please stop by and search our database at the Center.
